Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday directed the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to provide modern amenities at country''s airports and to generate more revenue by increasing the number of international and domestic flights. Reviewing the performance of the CAA during a presentation at the PM House, Prime Minister Aziz stressed the need for turning it into a dynamic, world-class organisation, capable of meeting challenges of modern times.
Aziz said the CAA needs to gear up and come up with efficient solutions to provide latest, efficient and most modern facilities at the airports.
Director General CAA Air Marshal Pervez Akhtar Nawaz (Retd) briefed the Prime Minister on the progress in construction of new Islamabad and Gwadar airports.
The Prime Minister directed that the real estate around the airports should be developed according to international standards to generate economic activity and create job opportunities.
He also reviewed the performance of the Authority and the progress on various projects and on-going schemes.
He was given a briefing by the consultants, appointed by the CAA for its restructuring.
The meeting was also attended by Senior Minister and Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Minister of State for Defence Zahid Hamid, Secretary Defence Lieutenant General Tariq Wasim Ghazi (Retd) besides senior officials of CAA and Ministry of Defence.
