OIC urged to counter misperceptions about Islam

Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri on Saturday called on the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) to play an effective role in countering misperceptions about Islam in the West. He made these remarks in a meeting with OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanogolu who called on him to discuss details of work of the 'Commission of Eminent Persons' and other matters of mutual interests. They also discussed the follow-up action on the President's initiative on enlightened moderation and ways and means of making the OIC more effective.
Kasuri appreciated the contribution of the OIC Secretary General in efforts to reach out to the other international organisations and important countries on the issue of importance to Islamic Ummah. They discussed in detailed the work of the Commission of Eminent Persons.
