Raise in transport fares condemned

The people of Karachi have condemned recent increase in public transport fares While condemning the Sindh government's decision to raise buses, coaches and mini-buses fares by 20 percent, they said that the common man was already facing financial crisis due to inflation and rise in the prices of daily use items and raise in transport fares would add more to their miseries. They said that those labourers, who have to change two or three buses to reach their place of work, would be the worst sufferers. The students have termed the decision unjustified.
The owners of the public transport have welcomed this step.
Meanwhile, school and college van operators have also asked the parents and schools and college administrations to increase their monthly fares.
The goods transport carriers within Karachi, including Suzuki loaders, have also increased their fares.
