The Punjab Minister for Co-operatives, Colonel Malik Muhammad Anwar (Retd) has said that 10 mini dams would be constructed in Attock district for economic uplift of the area. Talking to a delegation of elites of Attock District, who called on him here Thursday Malik Anwar maintained that government was spending Rs 200 million for construction of new roads and Rs 100 million for improving the condition of dilapidated roads in the district under Prime Minister's Development Package.
Apart from this, huge amount would be spent to provide potable water in Fateh Jang and Hasanabdal. After construction of new Islamabad International Airport, Fateh Jang would become a developed city, he maintained.
In order to improve healthcare facilities the strength of lady health visitors had been increased from 80,000 to 100,000 while new airport would help create job opportunities for the local people. Federal government handed over the Turnol-Kohat Road via Fateh Jang to National Highways Authority which would construct dual-way to make an easy access to the international airport, he said.
With an amount of one billion rupees, various projects of electrification, telephone, Sui gas, roads, potable water, sewerage and other civic amenities had also been launched on emergency basis.
The provincial government was setting up industrial estates across the province, which would promote industrialisation. Besides, mega projects were being launched in under developed areas to bring them at par with the developed areas of the province, he added.
