The extensive and vigorous training in the peacetime is the only guarantee for an impregnable defence during wartime.
This was stated by Commander Karachi Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi while addressing as chief guest at the 23rd Passing Out Parade of Pakistan Marines and Pakistan Naval Police at PNS Qasim at Manora here on Monday.
"Today is just the beginning in the professional career of the newly graduating marines, which is a continuous learning process specially in this era of advance technology and rapidly changing doctrines," Rear Admiral Asad pointed out.
He said it is our solemn duty to make the defence of our motherland invincible and acquaint ourselves with the best use of weaponry to safeguard our sea frontiers in the hour of need.
Rear Admiral said that apart from being an effective component of Pakistan Navy towards defending the south-eastern coastal belt, Pakistan marines have always been incremental in providing assistance to stranded and needy people during floods and torrential rains.
"Pakistan Marines have proved equal to all the roles and tasks assigned to it 14 years ago upon its inception and we are proud of it," he added.
The chief guest lauded the determination and high training standards of Pakistan Marines which, he said, is recognised at the highest levels and efforts are being made to send these valorous troops on UN peace keeping missions.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Commandant Pak Marines Captain A. M. Khan shed light on various aspects of training of Pak Marines.
He said that Pak Marines after successful training in the use of small arms, physical exercises, swimming, judo and other combative trades, receives extensive training in geo-strategy and mapping besides professional training.
During their training, Pak Marines also underwent Combat Tactics Course, Junior leadership course, Drill course, Bomb Disposal course and Unit instructor courses, he informed.
Later, Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi gave away the prizes to the winners.
