An artificial skin would be developed in city through latest "Stem Cell" technique for skin grafting of burn patients for the first time in history of the country.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College, Professor Dr Syed Sibt Ul Hasnain said earlier modern medical facility of "Stem Cell and Skin Culture" was not available to patients anywhere in Pakistan including India.
He said with the help of stem cell technique, Pakistani doctors will develop artificial skin to be used for grafting of burn patients.
He said in most burn cases, major portion of the body was totally burnt and skin with tissues required for grafting is not obtainable from the marred body of patients.
For this purpose, he said, a separate full-fledged modern and state of the art 60-bed, the largest "Burn Unit" in Pakistan will be established in Jinnah Hospital and construction will start next month.
