We came to know with great pleasure the announcement of summer vacations through your popular Business Recorder of May 23, 2004 that all the government and private schools and colleges in the province of Sindh will remain closed from June 01 to July 31, 2004 on account of summers vacations.
This was stated by the Executive District Officer (EDO) Higher Education, Mohammad Rais Alvi, Karachi on Saturday. The decision to this effect has been taken by the Steering Committee.
After the two-months summer vacations the schools and colleges in the province would reopen on August 1, 2004.
Accordingly all the teachers/lecturers as per above government announcement have chalked out their programmes for the two months.
In violation of this government announcement of summer vacations, the management of Karachi Public School has, of its own jittery will has declared that KPS will remain open from July 01 to July 31, 2004 and ordered that all the staff/teachers of their nine branches to remain present at the school for the whole month of July under the umbrella of this city's scorching sun.
This violation should immediately be stopped and published through your esteemed newspaper and action should be taken against the school management.
Prominent Schools like Mama Parsi, BVS School, Karachi Grammar School, City School and all mission schools are following the government orders/rules.
You are advised to take up the matter with the concerned authorities of the province of Sindh for their strict compliance of the announcement which will pave the way for thousands of teachers/lecturers to enjoy their summer vacations tension-free.
