Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal will establish vocational schools at district level throughout the country to strengthen woman's economic capacity and self-reliance.
According to official sources, one vocational/dastkari school in each province will be diversified as model project.
In each model school three to four different skills as short and long term courses will be offered to students keeping in view the demand of that area. Upon successful implementation, it will be replicated in the rest of schools as well.
The operation of these schools would be on double shift basis. The duration of course is six-month. Courses offered would be cuttings drafting, tailoring, hand embroidery and hand knitting.
Raw material will also be provided free of cost including daily stipend on attendance basis to meet travel expenses.
The source said the PBM had earlier established 11 vocational schools during 1995-96 where destitute widows, orphan and poor girls are given training in variety of skills which enable them to earn their livelihood in a respectable manner.
