Station House Officer (SHO) of Kalakot Police Station Mohammad Naeem Khan was granted pre-arrest interim bail in a custodial killing case by a division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Shabbir Ahmed and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.
According to details, Mohammad Yousuf was arrested by Kalakot police in a drug case.
He died of a cardiac arrest while in custody after which a murder case was registered against the applicant, SHO Mohammad Naeem Khan.
The bench, after hearing Khwaja Naveed Ahmad, counsel for applicant on Saturday, admitted the accused to bail against a surety of Rs 0.1 million.
Another bench of the SHC, comprising Justice Wahid Bux Brohi and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery, on Friday commuted death sentence awarded to an accused Kashif to a life term and acquitted co-accused Mohammad Zahir of a murder and terrorism case.
The acquittal was recorded while giving the accused benefit of doubt.
According details, Saudabad police arrested five persons and allegedly recovered three T.T pistols, but during search a large number of area people gathered and police party rushed to the police station.
Once at the police station, one of the accused hurled a cracker, while co-accused snatched a SMG from a policeman and started indiscriminate firing in which a policeman Mehboob died of firearm injuries.
The accused were then booked on charge of murder and terrorism.
They were tried and sentenced to death on counts of murder and terrorism by the ATC-V, Karachi division, against which the instant appeal was filed, which was decided on Friday.
