Sukkur Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (SCCI) president Khalid Mehmood Khan strongly protested against the abrupt and sudden increase in gas tariff for Industrial, Commercial and Residential consumers by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
He said that with this illogical and unjust measure the cost of production which is already on high side than other neighbouring countries shall go more higher and make the country's goods quite uncompetetive in international and domestic markets.
He said that this enhancement in gas tariff has shocked the entire general public of Sindh province, which has already been facing price hike in all commodities of common man use, shall be great sufferer and the trade and industry of it have to bear the burnt. Their survival has become very difficult due to frequent enhancement of utility charges, he added.
He lamented that it is very surprising to note that the entire trade and industrial circles of the country are demanding for reduction in utility charges and the Prime Minister of Pakistan has all along been assuring reduction in it, in order to facilitate the trading and general public from price hike and to meet the challenges of WTO. But the present action of the Ogra nullifies all these commitments of the present government.
He further said that a few days have remained in an announcement of the federal budget, and the finance minister Shaukat Aziz has also all along been propagating that budget shall be export oriented and friendly.
