New York & Company Inc, a women's apparel retailer, filed on Monday with US regulators to raise up to $172.5 million in an initial public offering of common stock.
New York & Company, which operated as a subsidiary of Limited Brands from 1985 to 2002, designs and sells its namesake merchandise through a network of 468 retail stores across the United States.
The New York-based company changed its name on May 20 from New York & Co Group Inc, according to its preliminary prospectus filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The retailer did not immediately specify how many common shares it planned to sell or at what price. These details are expected in future filings with the SEC. Bear Stearns & Co and J.P. Morgan will manage the IPO along with underwriters Wachovia Securities, Banc of America Securities and Piper Jaffray.
New York & Company said it has applied for a New York Stock Exchange listing under the symbol "NWY".
