The parliamentary committee on water resources met here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Senator Nisar Ahmad Memon. The committee took stock of the deliberation held so far and developed a schedule for coming months in light of the inputs received.
The committee also decided to visit the provinces once again to physically inspect the sites for which invitation was extended during earlier visits to the provinces.
Availing the opportunity, the committee will also meet the political leadership and other stakeholders, including NGOs and political parties not represented in the Parliament and provincial assemblies.
The committee also decided to support the project for water conservation/management and small dams submitted by the provinces and send the input to the federal government for incorporation in the 2004-05 budget.
The committee is targeting to submit its interim report by the end of June 2004.
The meeting was attended by Senator Mohammad Naseer Mengal, Senator Aneesa Zeb, Tahir Kheli, MNAs Sher Akbar Khan, Alsyed Abdul Qadir Jamaluddin Al-Gillani and Haji Mohammad Ali Malkani.
