Sindh Environmental Protection Agency authorities have strongly dispelled the impression regarding potential threat to environment and wildlife as an aftermath of Thar Coal Project in district Tharparkar district.
EPA-Sindh sources here on Friday negating a news report in this regard also denied that the project had been initiated without taking into confidence the provincial environmental protection agency itself.
According to them on the contrary Ministry of Mineral and Natural resources and EPA experts are in constant contact with each other since long and had held joint meetings at regular intervals also attended by foreign experts to review the Thar Coal Project and its environmental impact.
The sources further mentioned that concerned authorities directly involved in the project are well informed about the relevant rules and regulations of EPA-Sindh.
Expressing reservations about the experts' observation in the cited news report, it was maintained that actual scenario and related impact is much better assessed by experts and professionals, well qualified in human development, rather than those claiming to be working for the cause of animal protection without any adequate competence.
The latter was advised to seek proper information from concerned organisations prior to making judgmental statements.
