A leading soft drink manufacturer has signed film star Reema as Pepsi Cola's new celebrity in Pakistan keeping alive the tradition of signing contracts with cricket stars and musical groups in the advertisement campaigns of soft drinks.
According to a press release issued by Pepsi Cola International here on Friday film star Reema said that after becoming a Pepsi star she has gained a stature other film stars in the country could only envy.
Commenting on the details of the new soft drink advertisement already on air, Reema said that she was enthralled to see the results of over three months of time and effort put into preparing the advertisement.
This is the first time Pepsi Cola in Pakistan has selected a film personality as a star for its advertising campaign.
In the past, the company has worked with cricket and music stars and some of the best known names of both the fields have been associated with the brand. The most famous of all these icons, Imran Khan, was the first Pepsi cricket star, while Vital Signs was the first music group to be signed up by the soft drink giant.
Cricket and music in Pakistan have both benefited in terms of development because of their association with Pepsi over the years.
Other Pepsi stars included Wasim Akram and Saeed Anwar among many cricketers and music groups such as Awaz and Strings. World-wide, besides others, Pepsi Cola has also worked with female stars like Madonna, Britney Spears, Beyonce and Shakira in USA and Spice Girls in the UK.
"Pepsi Cola has been eager to explore new avenues when it comes to selecting celebrities.
"Reema has been a heart throb for millions of her fans, young and old alike, and that is the first commonality Pepsi finds with Reema", Pepsi Cola Director Marketing Khalid Alvi said.
"As part of its global marketing strategy, Pepsi Cola was keen to engage a female showbiz star from Pakistan also and had been able to find the right star in Reema who could go with the image of Pepsi as the top brand in the country," he added.
Khalid said that the making of the advertisement involved technical expertise and equipment used in some of the most developed countries.
