Pakistan on Saturday said that it would not hand over to the United States, those arrested from within the country.
"Whether they are Pakistani nationals or the foreigners, if arrested in Pakistan, will not be hand over to the US," said a spokesman of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
"Those arrested will be dealt in accordance with the law of the land and any action against them will be carried out by Pakistani security agencies within the country," the spokesman said in a statement.
Contradicting a news item published in a section of the press attributed to Director General ISPR, Major General Shaukat Sultan's statement regarding handing over the Afghan nationals to the US, who were arrested from Pakistan, the spokesman said, he (General Shaukat) had not issued any such statement nor he had said any such thing while talking to the pressmen.
He said Pakistan's policy, in this behalf, is crystal clear and Pakistan Army strictly adheres to it.
The spokesman said the US had been carrying out an operation against Taleban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
The coalition forces will never enter Pakistan, while Pakistan Army will conduct any such operation on its own soil, he said.
Those arrested during the operation, whether they belong to Pakistan or any other country will not be handed over to the US.
Any action against them, he said, would be taken in Pakistan by the security agencies of the country.
