Japan has complained about the presence of an organic element in food consignments, especially in chili and pepper products exported from Pakistan.
The complaint has been received by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) this week, which speaks of the presence of "aflatoxin BI (60 bbp)" for the second time in chili products and pepper, walnuts, pistachio, almonds and peanuts.
The EPB has advised all the exporters, especially of food products, to ensure that their products are thoroughly checked before export to Japan or any other country.
It further advised the exporters to check their chili products particularly against the presence of an ingredient, called "Sudan 1,11 and 111."
The exporters have also been advised to contact the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) for technical advice on how to remove the unwanted ingredient from food consignments, exported to Japan.
The EPB reminded the exporters that the Japanese government applied strict hygiene rules on all food products imported into the country and if special care was not taken, Pakistan might lose a lucrative export market.
