Fifteen persons, including nine members of a family, were killed while seven others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a wagon near Pir Di Hatti in Dipalpur area, near Okara district here, on Thursday morning.
The injured have been shifted to Civil Hospital Dipalpur and District Hospital Okara.
According to reports, a Dipalpur-bound passenger wagon (LHO-3167) departed from Okara on Thursday morning and when it reached near Pir Di Hatti it collided with a passenger bus (PO-1186) with a big bang.
Consequently, 15 persons, including nine members of a family, were killed while seven others wounded seriously. Wagon driver also expired in the accident.
Those killed are identified as Zohran Bibi, Haji Mohammed Hussain, Mohammad Rafique, Bashir Ahmed, Sher Ali, Rabia Bibi, Manzooran Bibi, Zainab Bibi, Mohammad Ashraf, Khushi Mohammad, Ghulam Mustafa, Ghulam Shabbir, Khushi Bibi and two unidentified boys.
In another accident in the same area near Okara, 10 persons were seriously injured when their van was hit by another van, coming from the opposite direction.
All the injured were shifted to Tehsil Hospital Dipalpur, Okara from where seriously injured patients were sent to hospitals in Lahore.
