Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed while announcing to observe condemnation day has given a strike call for February 6, against the government's attitude towards the nuclear scientists.
Addressing a hurriedly called press conference here on Sunday, Qazi has also announced to hold million marches in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, after obtaining consent of his party leadership.
"We would not let government persecute the national heroes and would bring the masses on the streets to force government to stop the debriefing sessions and putting country's nuclear programme at risk," he stressed.
Qazi severely criticised the United States for alleging Pakistan to be the sources of nuclear proliferation and said that Pakistan has neither signed NPT nor CTBT, so it is not in violation of any international law of technology transfer.
"US and West, before pointing a finger towards Pakistan should cast a glance on their own deeds. They are the ones who hold nuclear arsenal and are the sources of world-wide evil," he alleged.
He was of the firm view that the debriefing of nuclear scientists has posed a serious question over the integrity and honour. If the national heroes could be treated like petty criminal, the ordinary citizens have no where to hide. "Father of the nuclear programme Dr Qadeer has been forced to resign from his advisory post and has been banned from entering the KRL which he has built from the scratch.
This is height of humiliation for a genius who has sacrificed everything for national interest. This is a clear sign for the masses that we are no longer an independent nation," he added.
He further said that the government is conspiring to create a rift between the armed forces and the people, as without anarchy, dictatorship of President Musharraf would not flourish.
"The system is rotting at roots and the only reason for all the problems being faced by the country is the rule of one man, who for his personal gains is making compromises on national interests," he alleged.
He further alleged that the Nato forces have gathered at Pakistan-Afghanistan border and are directly operating in the Pakistan territory on the pretext of hunt for Osama Bin Laden.
It is the duty of the Pakistan armed forces to stop intervention of foreign soldiers in Pakistan territory as this is a direct attack on country's sovereignty.
Commenting on the political situation in the country, he said that the Musharraf-Jamali set up would not last for long. It is a matter of concern that the cabinet has passed the National Security Council bill and has given army a reason to make unnecessary interventions in the political affairs.
"There is no country in the world where army could resolve the political issues. It is not the job of Pakistan army to interfere in the civilian matters," he pointed out.
