Haji Muhammad Saleem Executive Member Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has expressed concern over killing of 13 persons during kite flying with metallic wire within a period of only two days.
In a statement issued here on Friday, he condemned the so-called progressive elements trying to pave way for this deadly sport by dubbing it as an event of merry making and attributing it with "Basant".
He lamented that sellers of kites are selling metallic wire and chemically treated threads without any check, in spite of the clear warning by Government and Wapda and loss of precious human lives.
He has appealed to President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Governor Punjab Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd), Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Federal Minister for Culture to ban the kite flying in greater public interest.
