The district government has banned establishment of new industries in residential colonies, along the important roads keeping in view of increasing spread of pollution and population influx. It declared these areas prohibited for industries.
The district administration also prohibited cantonment area for industries and the establishment of industrial units in two kilometers of tehsil Shujaabad and Jalalpur Pirwala would not be allowed.
Multan DCO Muhammad Ijaz Chaudhry finalised this in a joint meeting with Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry representatives, said officials.
It has also been decided that no factory would be established across Bosan road, Bahauddin Zakariya University, complete northern bypass, Khanewal road, Vihari chowk to Vihari road at Chathawala Pull, on Bahawalpur road, village Larr, on Shujaabad road to Labar Mor, Suraj Miani road to River Chenab and Nawabpur road to Dewan Ka Bagh.
The industrialisation has also been banned from Vehari Chowk to Sher Shah bypass along the road.
The DCO said that it was very disappointing and sorrowful that industries were destroying three canals of Multan while a canal in Lahore playing a vital role in city's beautification.
The DCO also ordered for new planning keeping in view of next 20 years.
