Shanghai copper futures clambered higher on Friday, the last day before the Lunar New Year break, with investors expecting the London Metal Exchange to gain in the week ahead, traders said.
The most active August contract ended 100 yuan higher at 24,260 yuan ($2,930) per tonne, while other Shanghai contracts gained 10 to 100 yuan.
Spot copper in Shanghai shed 150-160 yuan to move in a range of between 23,910 yuan to 24,050 yuan a tonne, after a fall in domestic futures trade.
