Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Syed Ali Shah Gilani while welcoming improving trends in Indo-Pak relations on Wednesday said the aspirations of Kashmiri people should be kept in view whenever there is a process for the solution of Kashmir dispute.
"We are very happy over the developments taken place during Islamabad Saarc summit in the context of Indo-Pak relations," Gilani told Geo Television.
He said both the countries have agreed to resume the long awaited dialogue process during the next month, which is also a good omen.
After Agra summit it is a good opportunity for both the countries to start result oriented dialogue to resolve their bilateral disputes particularly the issue of Kashmir, he said.
He said Kashmir issue is lingering for past 33 years and has a peculiar historic perspective. Whenever there is a move for Kashmir solution, its historical perspective should be kept in view, he added.
Otherwise a solution which is not accepted by the Kashmiris will not be strong enough to be sustained, he maintained.
Both India and Pakistan should keep in view the large number of sacrifices, which the people of Kashmir have rendered for their just cause, the APHC chairman said.
He said Kashmir is a disputed territory wherein Kashmiris are a main party to this dispute.
To a question, he said the acceptance of Line of Control (LoC), as permanent border will be no solution to Kashmir dispute.
The geographical unity of Kashmir should also be kept intact whatsoever the mode of solution is he said adding, "we want to keep the non-Muslim Kashmiris with us."
