The Kashmiris on the both sides of Line of Control (LoC) observed 'Right of Self-determination Day' and 'Black Day' on Monday.
Rallies and processions were held across Azad and occupied Jammu and Kashmir to urge United Nations to implement its 53 years old resolutions on Kashmir dispute.
On the occasion of Right of Self-determination, Kashmir Liberation Cell organised a rally at Central Press club.
Head of APHC AJK Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Secretary General Professor Nazir Ahmed Shal, Senior Minister Syed Mumtaz Ali Gillani, Amir Jamaat Islami Muzaffarabad Sheikh Aqil-ur-Rehman, Waleed Raool and other leaders of various political and religious parties addressed the rally.
Addressing the rally, speakers believed that the UN resolutions are still valid and can be implemented for the just settlement of Kashmir dispute.
They observed that only UN resolutions are providing base for solution of Kashmir conflict.
The rally marched to UN military observer office.
APHC Chief Farooq Rehmani, Nazir Shal and Senior Minister Syed Mumtaz Gillani led the rally to UN office where they handed over a protest memorandum for UN Secretary General Kofi Annan which reminded the world body about its pledge to Kashmiris 53 years ago.
Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) observed Right of Self-determination Day as 'Black Day' staging protest demonstrations to condemned UN for not including third option in its resolutions passed in 1949 on the same day.
JKNSF took out a protest demonstration to mark the day as black day. The protestors marched to United Nation's military observer office while chanting pro independence slogans and carrying black flags, banners and wearing black strips on heads.
They handed over protest memorandum for UN Secretary General Kofi Annan condemning the world body of only providing accession option to Kashmiris in its resolutions passed on January 5, 1949.
The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and JKNSF also held protest demonstrations in Bagh, Rawalakot and Kotli separately to mark the day as protest day.
They demanded of both India and Pakistan to withdraw their forces from Kashmir to provide a chance to Kashmiris to decide their fate.
