imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said here Sunday that elimination of energy crisis was essential for rapid industrial and economic development therefore, work was being carried out round-the-clock to overcome energy shortage under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said, energy projects were being executed speedily throughout the country as government wes serious to control energy crisis by utilizing all resources including coal, hydel, solar, wind and gas.

A sum of USD 34 billion had been allocated for energy projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he said, asserting that these projects would be adding thousands of megawatt of electricity into the system during next two years.

"Timely completion of energy projects is the voice of the nation and mission of PML-N government and journey of steering the country out of darkness will be completed at every cost," he vowed.

Ongoing energy projects would ensure surplus electricity for agriculture, industry and other sectors.

The Chief Minister mentioned that 1320 megawatt coal power plant was being executed speedily at Sahiwal, similarly, solar based energy projects were being set up in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur, where Punjab government from its own resources had already completed 100 MW solar power project.

Shehbaz Sharif said 3,600 megawatt gas-based projects in the province were also being executed which would help reduce energy shortage and provide cheap electricity to the masses.

Federal and Punjab governments had served the masses by saving billions of rupees in development projects and this policy would be continued, he said, government efforts would rid the nation of energy shortage.

A peaceful, prosperous and enlightened Pakistan will be handed over to the next generation, and "We will come up to people's

expectations in every sector including energy," he maintained. The Chief Minister said unjustified sit-ins delayed the energy projects and had those staging sit-ins mend their ways, energy projects would have been in final stages of completion.

Those doing negative politics had no concern with difficulties of the people, and those creating hurdles in the journey to progress were not well-wishers of the masses.

He said that a handful of political elements creating obstacles in the way of development projects for their personal interests were enemies of masses.

Shehbaz Sharif vowed that every effort would be made to complete the projects changing the fate of the country.
