imageMULTAN: The All Pakistan Oil Mills Association (APOMA) have termed the China Pakistan Economic Corridor as a game-changer project, saying that it would not only benefit Pakistan but the also bring about economic prosperity in the region.

Talking to APP, President APOMA, Khawaja Muhammad Fazil said that China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) project completion would not only bring prosperity in the country but also usher in a new era of progress in the South Asian region.

Khawaja Fazil maintained that it was one of the biggest projects in the country's history, focusing on public welfare and prosperity of the country.

However, he was concerned that anti-state elements were hatching conspiracies against the project and there was need to foil these nefarious designs to materialize the project well in time.

In this regard, masses, army and politicians will have to play their effective role for timely completion of CPEC, Fazil added.

The president APOMA further observed that CPEC was not only project of roads but it would also help improve energy infrastructure.

The project, he said would create nearly 0.8 million job opportunities for unemployed persons and it would also benefit its allied sectors all across the country.

Meanwhile, Chairman All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (South Punjab) Khawaja Suleman Siddique said that the mega project would add nearly 10,000 Megawatt electricity into national grid by 2019, which would end energy crisis besides boosting industrial activities in the country.

Traders would find new trade routes and easy access to world markets.

Similarly, Central President All Pakistan Powerlooms Association Khalique Qandeel while lauding CPEC observed that the business has suffered huge losses due to energy shortage.

However, he expressed the hope that the completion of CPEC would surely help ending electricity crisis and would also benefit them.

The US$46 billion CPEC project would bring positive change in the whole region by putting it on way leading to rapid progress and prosperity.

It is pertinent to mention here that CPEC is a long term broad framework with multiple sectoral projects, which will be completed in different phases through bilateral agreements agreed upon by both sides as a win win equation.

Pakistan and China had signed an agreement last year to commence work on CPEC development projects worth over $46 billion.

The corridor aims to connect Gwadar port in Balochistan to China's Xinjiang region via a network of highways, railways and pipelines spread over 3,000 km. Work on several sections is in progress.
