RAJANPUR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera said on Saturday that the operation Zarb-e-Ahan would continue till eradication of all criminal elements from the area.
Addressing a press conference flanked by DIG DG Khan Rehmat Ullah Niazi and DPO Ghulam Mubashar Mekan here, he said the operation was progresing as planning.
The army and police were jointly participating in the operation and the area would be cleared soon.
He said dacoits had been restricted to a jungle.
He recalled that a group of elite force was moving forward through water when the dacoits attacked them.
Six police officials embraced martyrdom while four dacoits were also killed. The dacoits had made 24 police officials hostage, he added.
The IGP expressed the hope that all the dacoits of Chottu gang would be arrested soon and kidnapped police officials would be get freed.
Earlier, the IGP visited houses of martyred police officials and condoled with their families.
