imageApple the iPhone maker is set to drop the ‘5’ from the name of its upcoming 4 inch smartphone and name it the iPhone SE, instead of the labeled iPhone 5se.

According to MacRumors, Apple's latest generation of 4-inch iPhone will feature a 12-MegaPixel rear-facing camera, in contrary to the 8-MegaPixel sensor as rumored previously, said the KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Known for giving accurate predictions, Kuo reaffirmed that the new 4-inch iPhone will have similar hardware specs as the iPhone 6s, including an A9 chip and NFC for Apple Pay. The device's form factor is expected to be similar to the iPhone 5s, although the display is said to have slightly curved 2.5D glass.

The new phone is expected to offer 16GB and 64GB storage capacities, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, Live Photos support, and would be powered by a slightly larger 1,642 mAh battery compared to the iPhone 5s. However, 3D Touch would not be included in the package.

Now, as the costs are concerned, Kuo expected the price could be somewhere between $400 and $500 in the US. The price tag indicate that the company aims to target the mid to low segment, particularly useful in increasing sales from emerging countries like China and India.

Kuo also predicts that the 5s may get a 50 percent price cut, as “KGI expects iPhone 5s shipments to ‘surge’ following the half-off discount.”

The Cupertino based tech is expected to announce the new 4-inch iPhone, alongside a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro with some small Apple Watch updates as well.
