imageISLAMABAD: The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has urged the Kashmiri people to observe complete shutdown on Monday to protest against the proposed visit of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to the territory.

According to KMS, Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar also called for peaceful demonstrations on the day against Modi's visit. "Time and again we have been saying that Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) has never been a part of India and New Delhi is controlling it with its military might," he stated.

The veteran leader said that Narendra Modi would be conveyed that IoK was not a part of India and Indian troops forcibly occupied it on October 27, 1947.

He said that despite its commitment in the United Nations and with the people of the territory, India had not given the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.

Castigating Indian Muslim clerics for conducting election campaign and seeking vote for BJP, Syed Ali Gilani said they were brainwashed by rightwing Hindu organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and were dancing to the tunes of their masters.

He said that these so-called clerics and India-sponsored NGOs had bartered their faith for vested interests and were following sinister designs to fulfill the agenda of BJP and RSS.
