NEW YORK: The euro rose more than 1 percent against the US dollar on Thursday as a rebound in US factory activity and optimism about the euro zone's debt crisis prompted investors to embrace risk.

The euro rose to a session high of $1.4401 according to Reuters data. It last traded at $1.4386, up 1.2 percent on the day.

The Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank said its business activity index rose to positive 3.2 from minus 7.7 the month before.

New proposals to deal with the euro zone debt crisis sparked optimism.
