image‘The Dark Knight Rises’ actor Tom Hardy who has portrayed the role of batman nemesis ‘Bane’, has been roped in to play the lead in BBC adventure series ‘Tabbo’.

‘Taboo’ is set in 1813 and follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), an adventurer who returns from Africa with 14 ill-gotten diamonds, seeking revenge for his father’s death. He refuses to sell his family’s business to the East India Company and attempts to build his own trading and shipping empire and finds himself playing a very dangerous game.

The story has been developed by Tom Hardy and his father while Sonar Entertainment is handling worldwide distribution. Eight episodes are set to go into production by the end of the next year for a 2016 release.

Tom Hardy notable film roles include ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’, ‘Inception’, ‘Warrior’, ‘This Means War’, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Locke’.
