imageSUKKUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has constituted a three- member committee to ascertain and identify the most attractive tourist sites of Sukkur Division and prepare phase wise plan for the development, projection and also operationalise these sites.

The Committee will be headed by Special Assistant for Culture with Secretary Culture and Commissioner Sukkur as the members, a handout said.

He decided this while taking a briefing about the tourist sites and their status from the officials of Revenue Department at the Circuit House here on Friday.

Talking on the occasion, the Sindh Chief Minister said that Sindh is traditionally and culturally a rich province of Pakistan. He said that Sindh has many sites similar to sites in other countries and popular for tourism. He observed that our tourist sites are not being maintained due to lack of interest. He said that only Sukkur has historical structures like Sukkur Barrage, Lansdowne Bridge, Sadhu Bella, Tombs of Seven Sisters and many other but all of these have not been projected, exploited and utilised.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Chairman PPP was taking keen interest in the promotion of tourism. He planned world- wide projection of Mohenjodaro through a cultural show but it was un-necessarily criticised.

He said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is still directing for launch of such projects. He said that we tried our best to develop the Gorakh Hills through public-private partnership but the private sector sis not respond and finally we made our own investment there and now tourists have facilities at Gorakh Hills and we are striving to get it promoted further.

He asked the officers to identify the tourist points, prepare PC-1 for their development and invest in public site, create an environment for the promotion of tourist site and make it attractive for the private sector. He said that Sindh Government has spared development funds for culture and tourism department and we wish to encourage them in their future planning.

During the meeting the Sindh Minister for Excise Mukesh Kumar Chawla announced a motor boat for the visitors of Sadhu Bella which was lauded.

The provincial Minister Excise Mukesh Kumar Chawla, MPAs Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Syed Awais Shah, IG Police Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Commissioner Sukkur Division Muhammad Abbas Baloch attended the meeting.
