SWAT: Member of Taliban committee Prof Ibrahim Sunday said that neither Taliban could enforce religious laws through attacks, nor peace could be restored through operations in the country. Talking to the media here at Jamaat-e-Islami Alkhidmat Markaz, he said the war should end to ensure peace and stability.
Prof Ibrahim said efforts were underway to finalize a venue and time for a meeting between Tahrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and government committees at the earliest.
He said their last meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was held on April 23, in which it was decided to hold a "meaningful meeting" between the government representatives and the Taliban.
But unfortunately due to some circumstances, the dialogue process had been postponed for some period, he added.
Professor Ibrahim said the army's role in the peace process was crucial.
Answering a question, he said Imran Khan's joining hands with Tahir-ul-Qadri was not understandable. "Imran has not taken the JI leadership in confidence in this regard," he added.
