ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post Wednesday organized a colorful ceremony to celebrate World Post Day with an aim to further strengthen the mission and goals of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
Acting Director General Pakistan Post Mashal Khan was the chief guest in a ceremony organized here at ECO Postal Staff College Auditorium.
Addressing the participants, Mashal Khan said that Pakistan Post is totally committed to the goals and aspirations of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
He said that the efforts of Pakistan Post are highly respected at the UPU forum, adding that based upon its size, population and human resources, Pakistan is ranked in leading countries of the world. He also urged the postal workers to work with full dedication and devotion to further improve the postal services across the country in a competitive environment.
He said that postal network stretches to touch virtually every town, village and person in the country, adding that its provides not only the transfer of messages, money and merchandise but also pension payments.
Earlier, a group of school children presented songs containing theme of UPU. Cultural performance was presented by the postal representatives from Gilgit-Baltistan.
Acting Director General Pakistan Post also hoisted UPU flag in a simple ceremony organized in the Directorate General attended by officers and staff.
Additional Director General Pakistan Post (operations) Fazli Sattar Khan said that like other member-countries, Pakistan Post also celebrates the World Post Day with zeal and fervor every year.
Similar UPU flag hoisting ceremonies and World Post Day functions were also held in all postal circles and units all over the country. The video message of Director General Universal Postal Union Bishar A. Hussain was also played on the occasion.
