In the Rosario grains market, soy closed at 1,880 pesos ($332) per tonne, up a touch from 1,878 pesos on Monday. Sellers held out for higher prices as benchmark Chicago futures traded lower.

Trading volume was thin compared with 40,000 tonnes on Monday.

Soybean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade fell on Tuesday, with the benchmark November contract setting back from an 11-month high as forecasts for slightly wetter US weather sparked a round of profit-taking.

Rosario soy for delivery in May 2014, which is quoted in US dollars, closed at $290 per tonne compared with a range of 290 to 295 on Monday.

In the Argentine port of Bahia Blanca the oilseed closed at 1,850 pesos.
