LONDON: European stock markets fell at the start of trading Thursday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index down 0.37 percent to 5,990.24 points.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 slipped 0.24 percent to 7,160.99 points and in Paris the CAC 40 retreated 0.49 percent to 3,986.26.
