ISLAMABAD: The tally of the Covid-19 patients crossed 9,242 in the federal capital on Wednesday after 385 new cases were reported from the various parts of the city.

Following rapid increase in the number of coronavirus patients, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has sealed sectors I-8/3, I-8/4, I-10/1, and I-10/2, along with main markaz of sectors I-10 and I-8 in order to prevent community spread of the Covid-19 in the area.

Four sectors have been sealed from 16 different points, he said.

According to the notification issued by the ICT Administration, the exemption in this order include essential services and supplies such as pharmacies, medicine shops, groceries stores and bakeries, patients for medical consultations, rationing, drinking water supply and emergency etc.

Islamabad police, Rangers and Pakistan Army are requested to cordon off the above four areas in order to ensure public safety and eliminate further spread of the virus.

According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Hamza Shafaqaat, said that the administration has so far not decided to seal Ghauri Town and Sector G-7.

Tests of over 3,000 people is being conducted in Islamabad on a daily basis, he said, adding that the main reason of delay in testing process due to load on the system.

The number of reported cases of the Covid-19 in the capital city is now 9,242, of which 2,439 have recovered and 90 patients have died.
