KARACHI: Pakistan Rupee gained value on Friday in both interbank and open markets against USD after exhibiting mixed trend for past few days. It also gained value against other major currencies in open market that are typically reported in this section. INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 20 paisas against USD for both buying and selling over yesterday's rates closing at 164.20 and 164.50 respectively. OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 10 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 164.30 and 164.70 respectively. Against Euro, PKR gained 50 paisas for both buying and selling over yesterday's rates closing at 183.50 and 185 respectively. Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 5 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling closing at 44.25 and 44.40 respectively. Against Saudi Riyal, PKR showed no change for buying and gained 5 paisas for selling closing at 43.15 and 43.35 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee stayed unchanged on the buying side while it recovered its earlier losses on the selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Friday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback did not witness any change in its demand throughout the trading session and ended for buying at Rs 165.50 whereas it lost 30 paisas for selling and closed at Rs 165.70 against the opening rate of Rs 166.00.

Furthermore, the rupee continued its upward journey for the second consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates further slid from the overnight closing trend of Rs 205.50 and Rs 207.30 to Rs 204.50 and Rs 206.20 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee showed a recovery of 25 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs165 (buying) and Rs 165.10 (selling) against last rate of Rs165.25 (buying) and Rs 165.35 (selling).

It closed at Rs165 (buying) and Rs 165.10 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs 106,200 (selling) and Rs 106,000 (selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
