Army to help civil administration in combating locust threat: COAS

(Karachi) Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that the army is committed to make all possible resources available to help civil administration in combating locust threat.

He said this during a visit to National Locust Control Center in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

Bajwa maintained there is need for effective control operations to ensure food security in the country and in mitigating the negative economic impact. He said government has already declared national emergency in this regard.

He appreciated the role of NLCC in synergizing national efforts in line with the National Action Plan.

Earlier, the Army Chief was briefed by Engineer in Chief Lieutenant General Moazzam Ejaz about the efforts being undertaken to counter locust threat.
