Chile hikes growth forecast for 2021 as copper price soars

Gross domestic product (GDP) will grow by 6% in 2021, up from a previous forecast in January of 5%, according to the report.
The price of copper is expected to hit $3.99 per pound, up sharply from a previous forecast of $3.35, the report said.

Perdue shipping one cargo of Brazil soybeans into the US

The Four Turandot vessel chartered by the United States is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday at the port of Barcarena in the north of Brazil, and is expected to sail on May 9, the Cargonave ship line-up data shows.
Brazil, the world's largest soy producer and exporter, very seldom sells to the United States. China is the main buyer of its soy.

July arabica coffee was up 0.4 cents, or 0.3%, to $1.4375 per lb.
May raw sugar was up 0.15 cents, or 0.9%, at 17.32 cents per lb after peaking at 17.40 cents, its highest since Feb. 26.

Brazil's centre-south sugar output was only 624,000 tonnes in the first half of April versus 971,000 tonnes in a similar period last year. Cane crush was seen at 15.6 million tonnes, 30% less than in 2020, Unica said.

Copper climbs towards record as market frets about supply

Benchmark copper on the London Metal Exchange traded up 1.5% at $9,894 a tonne in official rings, a gain of 27% this year.
"Chilean port workers called a strike over pension-related issues. They are being supported by the mining unions. There is no indication of supply disruptions, but copper prices have rallied," said Julius Baer analyst Carsten Menke.
