FO summons Indian envoy to protest ceasefire violations along LoC

(Karachi) Foreign Office summoned a senior Indian diplomat on Monday and lodged a strong protest over ceasefire violations by Indian troops in Khuiratta Sector along the Line of Control.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian forces, Muhammad Shafi, 37, a resident of Jijot village, suffered serious injuries.

Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indian occupation forces, the Foreign Office stated that ceasefire violations are against all established humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.

The FO said Indian forces have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working Boundary. So far, India has committed more than 957 ceasefire violations.

The FO statement further said that these violations by India are a threat to ‘regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation'. “The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws," the statement said.

Pakistan urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire and instructed them to respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
