A Punjab government delegation will soon visit to Turkey for a comprehensive survey of the KOSGEB model to promote entrepreneurship technology development, access to capital and business incubation facilities in the Punjab. The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority and the Punjab Small Industries Corporation will identify potential clusters for the pilot launch. The model will be helpful to get technical assistance from Turks to start new courses on entrepreneurship management.
Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh in a meeting with committee members on Monday, said that under the 2018 Punjab Growth Skill Strategy, skill providers in the Punjab had been given a collective target of training two million youth to contribute 8 percent gross domestic product growth rate target.
"Fifteen thousand trainees are trained at TEVTA annually. Under the growth strategy targets, an additional 541,128 have to be trained by us. Therefore, it is important to focus on entrepreneurs and self-employability of skilled workforce while creating entrepreneurial opportunities for others," he said.
He said TEVTA would send 15 trainers to Turkey for entrepreneurial training. The Punjab Small Industries Corporation's managing director will take the lead in the entire exercise and correspond further with KOSGEB. Industries Secretary Nabeel Javaid, Haroon Shaukat, Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi and the Punjab Small Industries Corporation's managing director also attended the meeting.
