Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday ordered deployment of army in district Jehlum after an angry mob set ablaze a factory in the wake of a rumour that an employee of the factory had allegedly committed an act of blasphemy. Taking a serious notice of the law and order situation in Jehlum, the minister said that nobody would be allowed to take the law into his own hand.
"Pakistan army should fulfill its legal and constitutional responsibilities under the guidance of the Punjab government to restore peace in Jhelum and avoid any untoward incident," he added. The minister took the decision following an enraged mob set a factory on fire in district Jhelum due to a rumour that an employee of the factory had indulged in an act blasphemy by allegedly desecrating the Holy Qur'an.
