“I would like to propose a new Nobel Prize.”
“Well, if truth be told the number of awards have increased since Alfred Nobel set it up.”
“Five committees are working bodies within three institutions, notably the (i) Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences nominates for prizes in physics and chemistry, (ii) Karolinska Institute for physiology of medicine, and the (iii) Swedish Academy for literature. Then there is the Norwegian Nobel Committee for peace prize, and the Committee for the Sveriges Riksbank prize for economic services. The sixth committee makes the actual selections for all disciplines, and it is composed of the entire academies for all prizes as well as 50 members from the Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute.”
“Impressive.”
“That there are so many Swedes engaged in decision-making for a prize that is coveted by…by…none other than the United States President Trump.”
“You reckon this is because Obama got it – a President who killed so many Pakistanis and lied about Raymond Davis being a member of the US diplomatic mission and…”
“I don’t know, but given the numbers involved in selecting the one who is awarded the peace prize, do you reckon that the governmental agencies…”
“You mean like some of the awards conferred in this country? Don’t think so because Machado’s selection is baffling – a woman who supported an invasion of her country…”
“Like the son of the deposed Shah of Iran.”
“Oooops that means President Trump may not get the peace prize this year too?”
“My solution: new prizes be announced.”
“For Artificial Intelligence?”
“Shut up, there is nothing artificial about President Trump’s intelligence….”
“Hey, back off silly – I meant AI the discipline.”
“Oh, sorry. Anyway my proposal is to institute a Nobel Prize for war.”
“Hegseth…”
“Hegseth is following orders.”
“True, my suggestion is to set up a prize for the individual who averts war by threatening war.”
“Right, but I don’t agree, I would propose a prize for the most far-reaching legislation in the world. And I bet Azam Tarar would get that award.”
“Don’t be facetious.”
