ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to the UK next month has been postponed reportedly due to ‘internal security, political and regional situation’. During his visit, the premier was expected to talk to his British counterpart Boris Johnson about the possible repartition of former premier Nawaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Khan was expected to visit the UK, in the first week of July, at the invitation of Prime Minister Johnson, which has been postponed and the new dates of the visit would be finalised through diplomatic channels later, informed sources said.

Prime Minister Khan was reportedly expected to hold talks with his British counterpart on the possible repatriation of PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who has extended his stay in London, despite various summons by the country’s courts in the cases against him.

On June 7, Prime Minister Johnson held a telephonic discussion with Prime Minister Khan, in which, he had invited to visit the UK, besides discussing issues of mutual interests.

Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, however, stated that the visit was not yet scheduled.
