In Punjab, a record, 747 corona patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 21,009 of total recovered patients.

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) vice-chancellor Prof Javed Akram said that the UHS is going to make public in July the preliminary results of the biggest drug trail initiated on Covid-19 patients. Another research project to judge the efficacy of Vitamin D3 for corona-positive patients was being launched by the UHS in collaboration with Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM), he added.

On the other hand, the Corona Experts Advisory Group (CEAG) has approved a new "clinical advisory" by abolishing the condition of "two mandatory and consecutive negative tests" for symptomatic Covid-19 patients to discharge them from hospitals in Punjab.

This advisory would not be applicable to three categories of patients including Immunocompromised patients, healthcare workers involved in patient care and those living in congregations such as hostels, Madressahs, prisons and community.

Under the new guidelines, the hospital shall not perform two tests of those confirmed patients who would not show symptoms for three consecutive days from the 10th day of admission to the hospitals.
