imageWest Indian hard hitting batsman Chris Gayle is known throughout the cricketing world for his eccentricity and party loving lifestyle. The T20 champion revealed that his life changed after undergoing heart operation in Melbourne 12 years ago in which he cheated death.

Gayle said that the surgery, which took place in Melbourne in 2005, have changed his life and allow him to live his life to the fullest.

Thats where everything changed. That was a life-changing situation, Gayle told Fox Sports News 500.

Thats why I dont really take on what people say, because they havent experienced certain things and know what a particular person is going through, or how a person feelsWhen they see people having fun, let them live their life. People should live their life how they want. At the end of the day, its their life, he said.

Gayles informed that at the time he was so scared that he refused to alert his family.

It was very scary. (No one) knew I was in the surgery, he said.

I didnt want to scare them. So I called them after If I did die on the bed, I wouldnt have had a chance to tell them. I think I cheated death by doing such a thing, he revealed.

During the West Indies tour of Australia in 2005, Gayle was forced to retire hurt during the second Test due to an irregular heartbeat. He made the decision to have the surgery, due to which he missed the third Test.
