To represent oneself among the best football clubs is the ultimate aim for most that pursue the game professionally.
However, former Brazilian footballer Wendell Lira has different ambitions, after winning 2015's FIFA Puskas Award for the most beautiful goal scored in 2015.
Lira was getting all the right offers and his career seemed on the rise. But he decided to quit the game at the age of 27, and is now playing video games instead.
"I always dreamed of making a living as a video game player, but I never thought it would come true. But it did," he says, reported BBC.
However, the other surprising fact is that Lira is now making more money as an e-athlete, than when he was a real footballer.
All of this started during a side event at the FIFA Award ceremony in Switzerland, where footballers were challenged to play a match of EA Sports' FIFA game against the world champion.
Unlike other Football superstars, Lira accepted the offer and surprisingly beat the world champion 6-1. One may think that winning FIFA Puskas would have done wonders, but for Lira a small league player things remained the same.
"People think that because I was a Puskas winner I had a huge salary. It was never the case."
