Pakistan former captain and opening batsman Aamer Sohail has been critical of fast bowler Mohammad Amir, saying that the left-hander is a shadow of his former self, as he is unable to swing the ball.
Mohammad Amir was unable to live up to his name, despite making a much-hyped international cricket comeback, after serving a five year ban for spot-fixing.
"A lot was expected from Amir in this series and to be fair to him, a lot of chances were created and not taken by the fielders which must have been disappointing," Pakpassion.net quoted Sohail as saying.
The outspoken former chief selector was of the view that Amirs bowling action is not perfect which is resulting in the lack of swing, and making his bowling less potent.
"The final part of his action is not perfect and he is falling over to his left-side at the point of delivery. Regardless, the main issue is that he has not been able to swing to the ball and due to that reason, I feel his shortcomings were exposed in the Test series against Australia."
Sohail was however of the view that the shortcomings could be overcome by hard work, while the rest of fast bowlers in the squad need to improve as well. He said that our bowlers should work on the surprise factor to succeed at the international level.
