The provincial government would celebrate this year's Independence Day in the most befitting and stately manner that goes well with this solemn occasion that took place 58 years ago when Muslims of British India gained freedom from the British Raj and established a state of their own.
Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan in a meeting on Saturday finalised details of the Independence Day celebrations and resolved to remember sacrifices given by freedom fighters.
Those who attended the meeting included minister for sports Qamar Mansoor, adviser on cultural affairs Faisal Malik, principal secretary Salim Khan and culture secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashidi.
Besides seminars, symposiums and meetings, there would be cultural shows, sports and illumination throughout the province.
All government buildings will fly flags, illuminate offices and make arrangements that would attract people of all ages. The governor and the chief minister would be at the Clifton beach on the night of 13-14 August and would participate in an event being organised by popular pop singer Zohaib Khan.
Members of the coalition government, especially ministers and advisers, along with members of the Sindh Assembly would also join the governor and the chief minister at this event.
They will open this event singing National Anthem together, singers will present national songs, folk music and skits. The concluding item would be an spectacular display of fireworks. Arrangements to meet security requirements have also been finalised.
