Turkey proposes joint efforts to combat drug trafficking

Turkish Interior Minister Abdul Kadir Aksu on Friday said Pakistan and Turkey should make joint efforts for combating problem of drug trafficking.
The Turkish minister said this during a briefing on problem of drug trafficking in Pakistan at the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) headquarters here.
The Turkish minister recognised and praised efforts of the ANF in combating drug menace in Pakistan. He lauded the organisation for the dedicated efforts put in by its rank and file.
He stressed the need for further extension in the already existing mutually beneficial ties between Pakistan and Turkey. He further said drug trafficking is a matter of common concern for the international community and should be dealt with by concerted efforts.
ANF director-general, Major General Nadeem Ahmad, informed the Turkish minister about the working of the ANF and narcotics situation in Pakistan.
Later, a display was arranged showing various concealment methods and techniques adopted by criminals to smuggle narcotics in and outside the country.
A demonstration of sniffer dogs was held showing their ability to sniff drugs under bowls.
